Problemizer Cookie Policy
Effective date: October 9, 2026
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Develemit LLC, doing business as Problemizer (“Problemizer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), keeps their use to the minimum the service needs to work. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, and for that reason Problemizer shows no cookie banner.
2. Cookies Problemizer Uses
Problemizer sets exactly one cookie:
| Cookie | Purpose | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
session | Keeps a parent signed in (a random token, no tracking) | A parent signs in | 30 days, or until the parent signs out |
It is a first-party, strictly necessary cookie: HttpOnly (page scripts can’t read it), SameSite=Lax, and sent only over HTTPS. It is never set for anyone who hasn’t signed in — using Problemizer without an account sets no cookie at all. We set no analytics, preference or other operational cookies, and no third party sets cookies through Problemizer: the site loads no scripts, fonts or images from other servers, and crash reporting runs through our own server with no cookies or browser storage.
Similar technologies: storage on your device
Problemizer also uses your browser’s local storage — on your device, not a cookie, and never read by anyone else — to hold:
- practice progress and game saves (Gadget Garage, Math Quest, Typing Quest), word lists and reading-log entries;
- kid mode, and the parent PIN that locks it (as a salted hash only);
- display preferences such as dark mode, and onboarding flags (for example, whether a tip has already been shown).
This stays on the device. If a parent is signed in, the progress record is also synced to the parent’s account, as described in our Privacy Policy. The offline service worker caches our own pages in your browser so the app works without a connection.
3. What We Do NOT Use Cookies For
- advertising or retargeting;
- behavioral profiling;
- tracking you across other websites;
- analytics — no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, and no other analytics or ad network scripts.
4. How to Manage Cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings; see allaboutcookies.org for instructions for each browser.
- Blocking the
sessioncookie means you can’t stay signed in. Everything else keeps working without an account. - Clearing site data for problemizer.app deletes the on-device storage above. If you don’t have an account, that permanently deletes your children’s progress and game saves — there is no copy on our servers. If you’re signed in, synced progress comes back when you sign in again.
5. Changes to This Policy
If we ever plan to add a cookie that isn’t strictly necessary, we will update this policy and email parent account holders before it is used.
